One important goal of State of the Map US is to bring the full diversity of the OpenStreetMap ecosystem to Washington DC for the conference and the sprint day. This will give us the solid ground we need for the continued growth in OpenStreetMap.

This is why we are providing scholarships to outstanding OpenStreetMap contributors, enabling them to attend a conference that they would otherwise have to skip due to financial constraints. The scholarships will provide free admission and up to $500 to cover travel expenses such as flights and accommodations.

If you’re contributing to OpenStreetMap in an interesting way – whether that’s by adding data, making maps, writing code or documentation, organizing meetups, or something else – and financial help will make the difference in whether you can come to State of the Map US, apply! We’re also taking suggestions on worthy scholars. If you know someone who fits this description or who should be at State of the Map US but isn’t planning to attend, recommend them for a scholarship.

Deadline for the scholarship applications is February 9th.

We will consider session proposals and scholarship applications together. If you submitted a great session it will help your chances for a scholarship.
